Always down for a little staycation with my man! We were so exited to be working with Crystal Bridges a few weeks ago to kickoff their summer series Color Field in the North Forest, Nature's Nation in the indoor, travel exhibit area, and their Forest Concert Series. The Color Field will be open through September 30th, 2019 and Nature's Nation will be open through September 9th, so hit them at the same time so you don't miss a thing! The Forest concert series will be over on July 27th, somehow that is already creeping up.
The first night we enjoyed happy hour with the artists and listened to the artist panel for the Color Field. Our favorite pieces in this exhibit are the bright metal sculptures by Typoe, so fun and they just bring out the kid in you! It's crazy how much color can psychologically effect you and your mood.
Claire Helen Ashley’s large, inflatable sculptures are touchable!!! They are all representation's of the women's body and how they can be beautiful no matter how different they are. Feminism in all the right ways :))))
The indoor exhibit, Nature's Nation, features art from Frank Lloyd Wright, Valerie Hegarty ("burned" painting on the right), and James Audubon (bird drawing in the middle - probably one of my favorites). Many of the works encourage you to think about how the human race effects nature and to embrace the beauty outside around you. Their promotion of creating a healthy lifestyle that embraces nature is brought to life with so many beautiful pieces!
Overall, Crystal Bridge's mission is “to welcome ALL in a setting that unites art and nature.” Doesn't matter if you are an outdoor or indoor person because they have a spot for all! The Museum offers a wide range of temporary exhibitions each year, and the artwork in our permanent collection galleries changes often. Some of their signature American works include Norman Rockwell’s Rosie the Riveter, Kerry James Marshall’s Our Town, and Jimson Weed by Georgia O’Keeffe.
Don't miss lunch or coffee at the Eleven Cafe at the heart of the museum (literally under the hanging gold heart sculpture). Austin and I love to come walk around the grounds, hit up any new exhibit, visit my FAVORITE Along the Shore by William Trost Richards and sip on a latte. It's my favorite weekend or weeknight activity :)
To end the day at the Summer Series, be sure to drop by the Forrest Concert series!! A great place to bring your kids or enjoy a date night under the trees and enjoy a glass of wine, or a popsicle if that's more your style.
Crystal Bridges holds such a special place in my heart here in Bentonville and if you haven't been I highly encourage you to visit, whether you are out of town or live in NWA, trust me you will be super impressed!
A huge & special thank you to Soapbox Influence, Visit Bentonville, Crystal Bridges Museum, Tavola Trattoria for sponsoring us for an amazing weekend!! We love you!! XX Haley
Seattle you are beautiful!!!! Austin and I took a long weekend away on Valentine's weekend to Seattle and stayed with Kimpton Hotel Vintage Seattle Downtown and it could not have been more perfect thanks to them.
We arrived in the city to the sweetest treats and wine from the staff after a long day of traveling in the snow! We barely made it to our flight due to a snow storm and just walked right on the plane. I was pure anxiety until I was sitting in my seat! I'm so not into cutting it close people!!!
We found the cutest little Mexican restaurant called Cactus Southwest Kitchen that night. What else would we do after a long day of travel other than find some Mexican food and a margarita to start the weekend?
Favorite Weekend Spots:
Everything about our stay at Hotel Vintage was perfect! The downtown location was amazing and a short walk from Pike Place Market and all of the shopping, even a quick Uber ride to Capitol Hill area. The room service breakfast was healthy and over the top, just how I like it because I guess I am a spoiled brat :) The yogurt and granola had to be my favorite, you just can't go wrong. Also, can we talk about how huge our room was!? Normally in a downtown hotel the rooms aren't overly spacious but this one sure was; even the bathroom was large. Big enough to let our suitcases explode like they normally do and still be able to walk around it haha.
Now I see why Seattle is the coffee capitol of the world. A Starbucks (or 3) on every corner, and boutique coffee shops to pick from for dayssss! No shortage of caffeine for us! One of our favorite spots had to be the Mr. West Coffee bar. Their aesthetic was so on point I could have cozied up in the corner there all day and watched people walk around in the rain. Speaking of rain, it was pretty much drizzly most of the weekend, but the sun was out to play and clear on our last day. Not bad for such a rainy area!!
As we said our goodbyes for the weekend, we had the hotel driver pick us up in an all blacked out suburban and honestly felt like we were the Kardashians off for a flight to who knows were next. Could not have had better service!!
Thank you, thank you to Kimpton Hotel Vintage Seattle for having us for a fun little getaway weekend, we will back!!!
This sweet spot in Seattle will forever hold a special place in our hearts! XX
Why haven't I shared these yet!? Queen's bath was the one place I had on our list that I HAD to see. Also, I advise you to read this whole post because it contains a very embarrassing wave story :)
Queen's Bath is located on the North shore of Kauai in Princeville and you have to hike down by a waterfall to get to the flat lava rock before getting to the bath area. And let me tell you, it was beyond beautiful!! Not only was the water so blue and gorgeous, but there were sea turtles swimming around which is basically my dream come true. Sadly I'm afraid of heights and it was low and wavy enough that there was no way I was going to jump in, but there are "kiddie pools," as I called them, that you didn't have to jump off a cliff to get into haha. Austin, his sister Anna, and his dad were of course brave enough to jump in, I'm just a baby.
But don't worry, I had my own little adventure short after ;) Further down the coast you could climb down a little lower and swim in a pool enclosed by the lava rock. Swimming around, taking in the views and taking family pictures with some cute little waves that would wash in every now and then. Austin and I had just taken a picture together and I noticed a wave that looked a little bit bigger coming in so we crouched down. I'm dumb enough to turn a little as to maybe get out of the way. However, the wave hits Austin (mind the fact that he didn't budge) then it hits me, picks me up and throws and drags me onto the rocks about 5 feet away. Dragging my legs on the rocks and holding on for dear life as I was swallowed by the wave, all I could think was "NOT my face" and that possibly my shin bone would be visible when I rose up from the dead hahaha.
I immediately came up yelling "I'm OKAY!!" Because I somehow was, but my legs sure didn't look like it. Everyone standing up on the higher area was in shock and left because I'm sure it scared them half to death hahahah! Purple, swollen, and bleeding from the knees down but honestly I was so embarrassed that I didn't care about the blood. We are all still mad there wasn't a video of it happening because it was just too funny and of course it happened to me.
Here we are about a month later and I just have two little scars and one bruise on that shin (okay not all the feeling is back but who cares), not sure how it wasn't worse but blessed about it, and now I have a hilarious story to share forever!! I thought about posting the after picture but thought naw, people don't want to see that sight ;)
AKA go to Queen's bath when in Kauai, and you won't regret it, just don't turn your back on the ocean.
Happy Sunday loves! xx
Views I can't get enough of and fresh powder on the slopes each day, what more could I want for a ski trip!? I love that first ride up the mountain each day and soaking up the pure silence in the snow; so refreshing and peaceful. Austin and I stayed at a cute little AirBnb this last week in Fraser, Colorado for Spring Break (probably our official "last" spring break ever, so sad). Let me tell ya, he was so patient with me on the slopes, but pushed me to improve and adventure when he knew I needed to. So much so that we accidentally ended up in basically black trees, which I ended up having to walk through because I'm a hot mess, and finished out on a blue black! At least I can say I did it haha!!
My cutie roomie and her family were there as well which was so fun to get to run into them while on the slopes. Who would have thought the first time we all went four years ago that we would end up as besties and college roommates? :)
ALSO!!! We officially started our YouTube Channel!! We are just getting the feel for all the video tech, but I am so dang excited about it! Be sure to subscribe to my channel and watch our first video to get a glimpse at slow-mo ski me and just a tiny fraction of all our laughs this last week!
I'm such a vanilla girl!
His "okay I need to eat now" face ;)
There's something about In-N-Out that I cannot pass up! Why do we not have one here in Fayetteville??? I remember my first time at one: during spring break with my parents and it was the only place I insisted to go to while in Dallas (okay other than go see Marry Poppins and shop of course). Anyways my point is that I always make a point to go there when I am around one because I don't always want food like that or a burger so I might as well take advantage of the cheap and greasy goodness! And it's just too cute!
Right after he said he couldn't wait to dunk me... I don't normally like to go under in rivers and lakes because I'm just weird like that. But convinced him not too :)
I can't believe I am just now getting this up! When I was in NY I happened to be there the same weekend of the Muses App launch and could not have been more excited to be invited! Muses is an app for bloggers and companies to collaborate and bring together new communities and friends in the blogging world. It was so fun getting to connect and meet people and brands face to face, take pictures, and grow together. I loved walking into the room and feeling that everyone there just gets each other, wanting to bring one another up in what we do. One of the brands there, Anjé Clothing, (the leather jacket I have on) was minimalistic perfection and all American-made products, which I love. They have a line that supports strong and fearless women as well! Go check them out!!
Thanks so much for having me in NYC Muses!

Happy Late Memorial Day, I hope everyone had a nice weekend off! We spent Memorial weekend at Big Cedar Lodge (crashed my parents anniversary) for a quick relaxing retreat; which I must say I needed, from being in New York for nine crazy days! I have grown up going to Big Cedar and it's kind of like my home away from home, full of quiet and relaxation, but endless outdoor adventures, or the spa if you are that kind of gal :) For some reason, I will always picture Big Cedar as a more modern version of where Baby goes in Dirty Dancing with her family so maybe that's why I love it so much. I'm really not a huge outdoors girl, but If I can catch some rays in some beautiful weather and get a tan in the process, count me in! I love kayaking because I'm in full control and it's easy haha ;) More like the perfect arm workout actually.
I really need to catch up on some of my upcoming posts since I was gone for so long, but much more coming this summer and I cannot wait! Travel, fashion, and inspiration all in the works!! Anything you want to see from me, let me know!!
Cheers to Summer 2017!!
Us perfectly described in a picture. Me- way too excited, Austin- What are you doing?? Haha!
Also, here is the link to his hat!
All the surfer vans :)
If you get the chance to even just drive through Sedona, Arizona in your life, don't skip out. The morning we were there, it had snowed apparently, by the time we got to cathedral rock it was nice and warm out; so weird but so nice! On our way to the park, we kept seeing hot air balloon baskets on the back of trucks and I can only imagine how cool that would be out there! I had no idea how rewarding the climb would be (because I have a huge fear of heights) until I truly got to the top and took in the full view. Austin always pushes me when he knows there is something I shouldn't miss out on, like going around on that ledge shown above, even though once you were on it, it wasn't small and scary haha! The view was breathtaking!! I love all of the red rock just randomly sticking up in the landscape through Arizona and yet you are also close to the mountains. Exhilarating and a day I'll never forget :)
I missed getting this up for Earth day, but one day late counts right? Our earth never ceases to amaze me, and what better way to enjoy it than by taking advantage of all of the adventures that await us! I may not be super outdoorsy, but I'm always up for a new adventure to push me or a good view/ hike. Every new place I come across my mind is blown by the beauty God created for us to live in!
Summer adventures are calling, let's finish this semester and explore!!
