I'm so, so happy I don't have to wear a coat to work or bundle up when I run to the gym! Spring is my absolute FAVORITE! The flowers and trees are starting to bloom here and it seems like it just happened over night. I don't want to miss a single second of it trapped inside. I can't get enough of the yellow and nude-pinks in my wardrobe either! I'll be wearing thisdress and these sneakers all through summer.
It’s Friday night, I’m watching Our Planet on Netflix and waiting for my banana bread to bake in the over. Now that is my kind of Friday night after a long and tiring week!
I haven’t done a life update on here in a while and thought I should! February and March were big months for me. Starting at the beginning of Feb, my best friend in the whole world got engaged AND my sister did two weeks later!!!!! Have I stopped crying tears of joy? No. My life is in full swing get my besties and sis married, celebrated, working and finding time to manage my Instagram in-between. Mid-Feb, Austin and I went to Seattle for a long weekend getaway and had a blast! We got tattoos together (my first!!)! Stay tuned for that post :)
In between all of this, I got an incredible opportunity at work for a promotion in a new position and started right when we got back from Seattle. Work has been crazy busy and fun but last weekend I was sure happy to be letting loose and going on a girls trip to Nashville to celebrate one of my college bestie’s bachelorette party weekend.
This week is NWA Fashion week and I was super excited when they asked me to attend for press! Last night was their first ever bridal night and I got to see my cute former bosses from Tesori and their curated styles for the show. Saturday I’m excited to attend a panel with Nylon Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Gabrielle Korn. I’m probably most excited about this one. It’s crazy to me that lil' ole Bentonville has events like this now. Next up Bentonville Film Festival in May!
All of this life living, is why I have been a little MIA on here, however I plan on getting back into things a bit more for spring and I am really excited to get into my little hideaway and write some more.

Today I wanted to hop on here and talk about finding balance in your life. It's so, so important to make this a priority in your life. Even small steps toward balance can bring you happiness and content. The other day I heard a quote that really hit home with me:
"Balance is not something you find, it's something you create."
Here are a few tips on how to create more balance in your daily life:
1.) Health: Not just physical health, but mind and spirit too! Give yourself a break when you feel like life has been getting crazy, even if you have to just give yourself some alone time from the world. This helps me refresh more than anything!
I don't always eat super healthy, but I don't always eat take out. If I felt bad about what I ate earlier in the day, I try to make sure I find time to hit the gym. If I eat super healthy the next day, I sometimes give myself a break. My favorite way to balance healthy eating is by eating a healthy breakfast and lunch and then enjoying myself at dinner after a long day (but not going too crazy haha).
2.) Work: Having a good work life balance is super challenging when you don't draw a line. I'm that girl that would rather be early or on time to work than roll in late and have to stay at the office late finishing things up. I take time management seriously so that when I'm out of the office I can do whatever the heck I want and not have to worry about what I needed to finish!
3.) Setting Goals: At the beginning of each week, I sit down and write down my goals for the week in my agenda planner. Gym goals, blog goals, even me time goals. Being able to check off a list helps me to accomplish things and keeps me reminded of why I wanted to do a certain thing in the first place. Setting realistic goals is also incredibly important; sometimes you just need to start with your priorities.
Creating balance is hard, but with baby steps, your growth as an individual leads to security in your mental peace and well being. Try and start tomorrow with one part of your balance, and see how it slowly brings peace into every aspect of your life! You've got this girl!

Happy Monday! I sure am soaking up the last bit of summer weather with every chance I get! My usual war with myself is coming: being excited for fall style, but not the cold weather. Lately, I don't leave the house without my Hari Mari flip flops. Either I have them on, or I know I'll be somewhere that I'll want to change into them. I don’t talk a ton about my fitness routine in this little world of mine, but today I am diving in a little to share how I like to keep a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Do I make it to the gym everyday? Nope. Sometimes life just gets too dang busy to even go a few times a week. My goal is to hit the gym 4 times a week and at least be active in some way everyday. I just plain feel better when I get to move around!
If I’m too lazy to drive to the gym, I try to go for a run (weather dependent because I’m way too picky) or do a couple yoga sessions from Boho Beautiful’s YouTube channel - LOVE her!! I like to start out with a quick cardio and then focus on one area of the body with weights. I also have a solid cardio day once or twice a week. On the days I just can’t make myself, it’s because I realize that I actually need a day of rest more than I need to run a mile. It’s just as important.
I’m going to be honest here. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to be able to do pull-ups… real ones. I have the smallest wimpy arms and once I quit dance I wasn’t able to do one anymore!! After working on it I can now say I can do a pull-up, or two ;)
Now to the other side of my balance. Food! I’ve never been someone who loves food and loves to eat; not that I don’t have my favorites I could eat all the time. I just never saw it as a form of entertainment, and maybe that’s why I can never make a decision on where we should go to eat haha.
Now that I cook more on my own, I like to focus on making sure I get enough protein, cut out more salt and sugar, but always, ALWAYS treat my self every now and then. You can’t be eating veggies all the time and not give yourself a break because that’s when a diet or lifestyle comes to a crash. Mix it up and have fun with it but don’t go over board, because that is what actually works.
And my #1 tip: Cute workout clothes. It works every. Single. Time.
